Event: Kathakalakshepa (Story Telling) 
For: UKG- individual event
Reporting time :09:00 on 19th August

Children narrate fables or tales (Aesops,
Jataka, Panchtantra, etc) with a moral to
learn, in any of the languages: English or
Hindi 

The tales should capture the audience
with songs, sounds and props too for a
duration of a maximum of 5 minutes.

Each school can send a maximum of 2
story tellers who perform in school
uniform.
The Story teller is evaluated by the
following criteria: Story, clarity of
speech, vocabulary, confidence/body language of the
narrator, props, expressions, time
limit and moral of the story.

Note: Adult intervention in any of
the performances will lead to
disqualification or loss of points.

 

Event: Gollu Bommai (Clay Modelling)
For: LKG- individual event
Reporting time: 09:00 on 19th August

Children create traditional dolls of medium
size that fits the palm of your hand with
clay dough and accessories within a one
hour duration. The materials are not
provided by the organizer. The participant
can bring the medium for creating the doll.

It should not include precut
pieces. Mold's, shape cutters or reference
material (pictures) also may not be used.
A maximum of 2 artists from each school
can participated to showcase their
individual talent. At the end of the
competition the child can describe the
creation in a few words.

The participant is evaluated by the
following criteria: Technique and intricacy,
Usage of colours, size and overall appeal, 
description and narration.

the performances will lead to
disqualification or loss of points

 

Event: Thirayattam (Folk Dance)
For: UKG- Team event
Reporting time: 9:00 AM on 19th August

A dance troupe of 6 – 8 children perform a
folk dance of India in resplendent
costumes and intricate props for a
duration of 8 minutes entry and exit after
which the music will be stopped.
The regional music should not be from the
movies and needs to brought in a CD
format.
Every school can showcase only one dance
troupe.
The Dance troupe will be evaluated in the
following criteria: Costume, choreography,
Choice of music, Group coordination and
usage of stage and props.

Note: Adult intervention in any of
the performances will lead to
disqualification or loss of points

 

Event: L’il Dramebazz (Skit)
For: Grade 1 and 2

Reporting time: 11:00 AM on19th August 

A drama troupe of 2-6 members performs a skit based
on tales of wisdom (eg: Tenali Raman, Akbar &
Birbal, Mullah Nasruddin, etc).
Every school can showcase only one troupe. Each
performance will be for a duration of 7 minutes
(including entry and exit)

The performers will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Content and story line, clarity of Dialogue delivery, body
language/confidence, expressions, team coordination,
props, costume and Time limit.

Note: Adult intervention in any of the performances
will lead to disqualification or loss of points.

 

Event: Prajwantika (Fashion Show)
For: Grade 1 and 2 ( team event)
Reporting Time: 8.30 AM on 19th August

An ensemble of 4 ramp walkers showcase traditional
Indian attire for a duration of 2 minutes.

The models sway to instrumental music which can be
brought in CD format.
Each school can send one team.

The Models are evaluated based on ramp walk,
team coordination, personality and authenticity
of costume.

Note: Adult intervention in any of the performances
will lead to disqualification or loss of points.

 

Event: Tasawuff (Qawwali)
For: Grade 3 to 5- team event
Reporting time: 9:00 AM on 19th August

A qawwali repertoire by a band of 12 bards for a
duration of 7 minutes including alighting and exit.
A teacher or senior student will be allowed to provide accompanying music.
Each school can present one performance.

The qawwali party will be evaluated on the
following criteria:
Tempo and Rhythm, synchronization of voices, group
participation, tone quality, Expressions and
enthusiasm, clarity of lyrics.

Note: Adult intervention in any of the performances
will lead to disqualification or loss of points.

 

Event: Taal se Taal mila (Classical Dance) 
For: Grade 3 to 5 ( pair event)
Reporting Time: 9:00 AM on 19th August

A pair of  dancers present a classical Indian dance
performance for a duration of 3 minutes including
entry and exit. The music needs to be in CD format
and it will be stopped after 3 minutes.
Every school can showcase 2 teams.

The dancers will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Costume, Appropriate music, expression,
coordination, stage coverage.

Note: Adult intervention in any of the performances will
lead to disqualification or loss of points.

 

Event: Chitrakatha (Comic Strip)
For: Grade 4 to 6
Reporting time: 9:00 AM on 19th August

A comic strip depicting life in Bengaluru sketched on an
A3 Sheet by a team of two illustrators in a time duration
of 1½ hours .
The illustration needs to be original so reference
material cannot be used.
Each team may bring along stationery for their work.
Every school can field two teams.
The artwork will be retained by the host school.

The comic strip will be evaluated by the
following criteria:
Neatness, Relevant content, quality of
artwork and title of the comic strip.

 

Event: Disney Acapella
For: Grade 5 to 10 (team event)
Reporting time: 11:00 AM on 19th August

A choir of 8-15 singers perform Acapella with no
accompanying instruments from a Disney Movie
for a duration of 7 minutes which includes setting
up and alighting from the stage.
Every school can send only one team.

The vocalists will be evaluated on the following:
Tempo, pitch, harmony and blending,
synchronization of voices and clarity of lyrics.

There are no marks for costume.

 

Event: Razmataaz (Indian Contemporary Dance)
For: Grades 8-12; Team event 
Reporting time: 1:00 PM

An Indian contemporary dance performance by a team
of 5 to 8 dancers to Indian instrumental music for a
duration of 5 minutes which includes entry and exit.
Each school can showcase one performance.
Music needs to be brought in a CD format only.

The dancers will be evaluated on the
following criteria:
Poise, coordination, expression, usage of props,
selection of music, stage coverage and costumes.

Note: Team may be disqualified in case of display
of inappropriate moves. The decision of the judges is final. 

 

Event: Aadichitra (Tribal Art)
For: Grade 7-9 individual event
Reporting time: 9:00 AM on 19th August

Create Tribal Art on a material or medium of your
choice (bottles, cloth, paper) within a duration of
2 hours. The artist needs to bring his/her own materials.
These need to be basic/raw materials and not cut
pieces or templates. A student desk will be given to
display the art. As all tribal art has a story to tell, there
are points awarded for explanation of the art in a
small write up.
Every school can send a maximum of 2 artists.

The art is evaluated on the following criteria:
theme and concept, creativity, presentation
and execution, finishing within time limit.

 

Event: Framed (Photography)
For: Grade 8 to 12
Reporting time: 8:30 AM on 19th August

The beauty of Deens Architecture, and its
beautiful people captured into the lenses.
(Topics will be given at the time of registration)
The photographer presents 10 of their best pictures
by a set time. Photos will be projected on the
screen and a panel selects the best pictures.

Participants to bring their own camera. Teams will
be disqualified if any events are disturbed or if
there are any inappropriate pictures.
Students are responsible for their own property.

 

Event: Ad Surf (Advertisement/Channel surfing)
For: Grades 9 - 12
Reporting time: 10:30 AM on 19th August.

A team of 5 entertainers is given 10 minutes to plan
and execute an ad campaign for an imaginary product
in TV channels. Expect a few technical glitches,
ad breaks and breaking news to be included. 
Each segment is for 10 minutes during
which judges will randomly change channels.
Every school may send one team only.

The evaluation criteria would be clarity of delivery,
creativity, range of talent, spontaneity and
team coordination.

 

Event: Raiders of the Deens Ark (Treasure Hunt)
For: Grade 8 - 12
Reporting time: 9:00 AM on 19th August

The Raiders of the Deens Ark is a treasure hunt in which
teams of four students, race around the school premises
in competition with other teams. Based on clues that are
deciphered, the raiders strive to arrive first at "Pit Stops”
of the race. At the Pit stop, tasks are assigned, completion
of which gives them an advantage or sets them back in
the race. The team that arrives first in the final leg is
awarded the grand prize.

Raider Teams are prohibited from contacting friends,
family, and acquaintances during the Race. Each team is
assigned a volunteer who will assist the raiders in
navigating through their task.Raiders would need to
deposit cell phones, personal digital assistants and
other similar aids at the start of the Race.

 

Event: Diva’ni (Bridal Makeover)
For: Grades 8-12
Reporting time: 08:30 AM on 19th August

A makeup artist transforms a plain model into a
beautiful bride with beautiful makeup and hair styling
within 2 hours. There is no restriction on usages
of colours and accessories. The costume of the model
may not be judged. All material needs to be brought
by the participant. Plug points will be provided to
each participant.

Each school can send a maximum of 2 teams ( 1 participant+ 1 model)

 

Event: Concerto  
For: Grades 8-12
Reporting time: 1:00 PM

A vocalist performs with one accompanying
instrument (Acoustic Guitar or Piano) for 5 minutes
from the time they enter the stage. The
accompanying instrument is for enhancement
of the performance will not be judged.
Performance will be in school uniform and each
school can send 2 participants only.

The Songster is evaluated on Tempo, Pitch, Voice
quality, Clarity of lyrics.

 

Event: Just for laughs! (Stand Up Comedy)
For: Grade 8 upwards
Reporting time: 11:30 AM on 19th August

A stand up comedian presents a 3 minute
individual performance (stand-up comedy) on
situations in India. (It happens only in India)
The performance either in Hindi or English or
combination of both.
Each school may send 2 participants.

The stand up artist will be judged on Presentation,
quality and quantity of one liners, originality and
unique style, content.

 

Event: justsowiki-eed.com (Website Development)
Unleash the trivia.
For: grades 11 and 12 only
Reporting time: 9:00 AM on 19th August

Two talented programmers design and develop a
website using HTML/ XML. Website will be developed
offline. Images and content needs to be brought on a
virus-free CD. It will be checked before the event
begins. Each school can send only one team.

At the end of 90 minutes they will exhibit a website
with 4 webpages in a 2 minute presentation and
answer queries from the judges.

They will be assessed on Visual design,
content, navigation, URL Name, presentation
skills and clarity of answers.

 

Event: Odyssey of the mind (Shipwrecked)
For: Grades 9 - 12
Reporting time: 11:00 AM on 19th August 

In an interesting challenge of 3 rounds a team of two
members will undergo a test of mental capabilities, 
creativity and public speaking skills.
The contest loosely based on a shipwreck situation
which includes model creation and an imprompt
speech by the team member to save themselves
from being eliminated.
The contestants will be evaluated on the content,
reasoning and the clarity of their expression
and words.
This is a team event and each school may send 
one team of 2 participants for this contest

 

Event: War of Words (Debate) for Grades 11 and 12
Reporting time: 9:00 AM on 19th August

E-tailing vs Retailing

‘Off the shelf’ or Off the ‘cloud’ – words that would
have seemed preposterous a few decades ago. Today
they take on, not just a new meaning, but also trigger a
discussion… a War of Words- Ecommerce- Boon or Bane.
It’s a transition from experience to convenience.
A movement from the yin to yang… or so some
may say!
A team of 2 participants one for and one against will
battle of the shopaholics E-tailing vs. Retailing.
Each school may send one team.
In round 1: One participant from each team
speaks for/ against the topic- 2 minutes each.

The participants would be evaluated on
content, clarity, knowledge, style and technique,
rebuttal, effectiveness control of emotions
and delivery.

Reference material written or electronic is forbidden.
The judges decision will be final.

 

Event date: 17th and 18th August.

Each school can register one team each for
boys and girls who in Grade 9 to 12. 

Duration of the match – 15/5/15
Size of the ground -  50m / 30m
Number of players - 10
(Playing - 7, Substitutes - 3)
There is no off side

Teams need to report in proper Football gear
(which includes shin guards)
Yellow and red cards will be implemented
Final decision for Tie matches will be through
penalty shoot outs (no extra time except in a final
match). Change of participants will not be entertained.
In the event of a participant being absent, an
authorized letter from the Principal bearing the
new participants name should be submitted.
Please submit copies of the players’ identity cards
The scanned copies of the completed registration
forms bearing the names of the participants signed
by the principal should be mailed to
events@deensacademy.com before
August 8th 2016.

Event date: 17th and 18th August 

Each school can register one team per category.
(Boys and girls) from Grade 9 to 12

Duration of the match - 4 quarters
10 / 5 / 10 minutes each
Number of players – 12
5 - 1st Quarter
5 - 2nd Quarter
3rd & 4th Combination
(2 Substitutes)

Team will play only man to man defense.
Teams need to report in proper Basketball gear.
Their bibs need to be numbered from 4 to 15.
For players who have committed 5 fouls or injured in
1st and 2nd quarter can be substituted by
11th and 12th Player. Each quarter will have one time out.
No protest will be entertained. Organizers will have
right to bring forward/postpone any match and the
same will be intimated to the concerned team.
Change of participants will not be entertained. In the
event of a participant being absent, an authorized
letter from the Principal bearing the new participants
name should be submitted.
Please submit copies of the players’ identity cards
The scanned copies of the completed registration
forms bearing the names of the participants signed
by the principal should be mailed to
events@deensacademy.com before the
10th of August, 2016.

The competition will be held at the ECC road campus
on 17th and 18th August between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM

An Independence day event "I Clean, I green Whitefield",
Deens Academy in association with ECC road residents
forum (ER2F).
Event date and venue: 15th August 9am and Deens Academy Whitefield.

An open athletic challenge testing the strength and
stamina for individuals under 16 including, 500 meters
of running, 2 KMs of cycling, and 50 meters of swimming.
Participants need to bring their own cycles.
Swimming cap needs to be worn while swimming 
and shoes are compulsory,for cycling and running. 
Participants need to arrange their own assistance,
the host school is  not responsible for the
safekeeping of discarded items.
Chest numbers will be provided and this needs to
be displayed on the t-shirts clearly.
Registration for Triathlon  is to be done independently
by the participant (not through the school). The fees
for it would be 250 per participant and the last date
of registrations is 8th August.

The following infringements will result in disqualification:
Abusive Language, Breaking road traffic regulations,
Dangerous conduct/riding, Failing to obey instructions
from organizers, outside assistance, Course irregularities
(short cut), Tampering or obstructing other competitors
by self or team members.
